.: What's the big deal about Industrial Arts?

Industrial Arts/Technology Education gives you "tools" that you will need for the rest of your life. The projects done by the students are the means to an end. The focus is on problem solving and different technical skills. With a focus on design and thinking a problem through, it can help students focus on the whole picture instead of the right here right now. Skills are taught along their journey, often in an as needed basis. Students focus on the skill they need to complete their vision. Coming out with a project at the end is a great bonus.

Hands on skills are not just for those that wish to persue a trade. In your lifetime you will need the skills to make, assemble, or repair a host of different things. IA is a great way to help understand how things work, and how to find the answers to the questions you have.

Canadian astronaut Marc Garneau said, "A 9/16 wrench in space is the same as a 9/16 wrench on earth." What does this mean? The basics of hands on apply no matter where you go.

.: Our safety committment to you

At Sanford Collegiate we aim to teach our student workers hands on skills, as well as their rights and responsibilities as a worker. We have developed a safety culture that we hope will spill out to their workplaces and homes. See the Safety Zone tab for more.
